Advice on buying a used greenhouse
I am looking at purchasing a used greenhouse as my first step into the greenhouse business. The house I am looking at is very reasonable in priced.
This particular house has 4 inch pipe posts embedded in concrete. Has anyone ever moved a greenhouse where the posts are in concrete? Did you pull the posts and remove the concrete or did you cut the posts off at the ground? Or did you replace the posts?
IF you cut them off what did you do to re-anchor the posts to the…

What a Greenhouse, Nursery or Garden Center can Learn from Hostess
Last Friday’s news hit me hard. Hostess was declaring bankruptcy for good. No more Twinkies®! Admittedly I didn’t personally shed a tear for the indestructible vanilla cakette, I never liked the stuff, not even as a child. But what about Hostess Cupcakes, Ding Dongs®, and Ho Ho’s®. Those little bites of chocolaty goodness are as much a part of my childhood as Yo-Yos and a Slinky.
What happened, what are the underlining reasons for the demise of an 82 year old industry…

I've struggled with developing a good return policy that protects my business but doesn't make me look like a bad guy. Currently I will refund by exchanging another plant/same plant of equal value after discussing why the plant died with the customer. I very rarely get returns but when I do, it's never been me who's at fault for selling a low quality plant. If it was, I would gladly refund. It's always been the customer who's either forgotten to water or overwatered. It never fails the first…

Label Makers
Hey All,
I would love to hear from anyone who has had some good success with professional garden label makers for pots. We would be using ours mainly for plastic pots on indoor flowering & foliage pots and maybe for some outdoor also. The labels need to be UV, water etc etc resistant and would be used on a smaller scale.....usually making less than 50 of one type of plant.
I have seen a finished label that measured about 2 1/2 inches long by 1 inch wide and contained the…

When we first started marketing our microbial products we made the decision not to sell to the big box stores for a number of reasons. Most important was they would not spent the time to tell their clients
about the advantages of using all natural, non-toxic microbial products. This spring we worked with a number of nurseries and garden centers during their peak selling time to tell their customers about how to assure transplanting survival and to grow plants using less…
