Excel Rocks!

Some people know that I accomplish a lot of greenhouse tasks using Excel. I'll post helpful formulas here for people to use building their spreadsheet solutions.

  1. This formula will look at the date entered into cell A1 and return the Grow week of the year.  Just paste this formula in a cell where you would like your Grow week of the year to show up.  Change the A1 in the code to match the cell that your date is in if it's not in A1. Cell A1 should have a date format like this…

Selkirk Lake

Heres the link to the Selkirk Lake website that I made. I have a lot of hours working on this site but it has a lot of content. I used Coffee Cup to design it. I've made a couple of other sites with just two to 4 pages which was easy.…

I can't hear what I'm looking at

I have four words of advice for any person thats just starting to grow, has been growing for a long time or is getting back into growing. "Look for what's different" When your growing plants "look for what's different". Find plants that you like and dislike to quickly solve problems. For example I've seen plants under drips grow better then the ones around it. Or the other way around. The plants by the vent came into color slower then the ones away from it. The plants in the hoop… Continue

Eric, I purchased the monkey already stuffed with the moss and then planted it myself. It does have a spring clip attatched to the right arm and is hanging from it in that pic. All came with monkey....except succulents.

Monkey I would call full size....about 24 plus inches tall feet to head. Arm another 10 inches or so. Thanks, I like it too!

Eric,

It doesn't bother me people want to try different things. We are all entitled to try to make our business profitable and serve the needs of the customers.  All I know is one of our largest customers tried the other and within two months came back. FYI they are in the top 15 of the "100 Top Growers list."

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, we got the schedule worked out. I broke it down into different categories (sticking, pruning, spray rotation, etc) and then combined them all onto one super spreadsheet! It is working well. We grow a 2 year crop, so there will be some tweaking along the way but it may take a little time.

We are growing a crop of garden mums this summer. It has been a learning experience and a little tricky as we are trying to make it work with our current azalea setup. I am using the same scheduling method for the mums so I should be able to tweak it a little sooner.

Thanks,
Chad
