watering shoes

Hi Folks

Well in the Chicago land area we got our summer heat and with that comes more watering.I have usually get water proof hiking boots (ha ha) What other shoes does every one else use.I don't care if my get wet,I just need dry shoes that don't stink when I get home.

P.s. my wife would really appericate help

I wear Clarks "Waterville" and "Wavetackle" all winter and they are actually comfortable and pretty waterproof their first year... I tend to get a new pair (or two) every year and retire them in sequence so I always have about three or four pair so I can switch out every day. I think that is key to not having stinky-toes. But being waterproof they don't breathe much and so I switch to trail running shoes for the summer and just live with wet feet when watering.

Same here. Tennis shoes during the growing season. Cheap and comfortable. Ankle high work boot during the off season for maintenance work.

I love these questions about shoes. I used to wear LL beans "gumshoe"  http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/19070?feat=506697-CL2&attrValue_... but I would go through a pair a year easily and they were a bit heavy. Then I switched to Muck shoes  http://www.muckbootcompany.com/women/lawn-garden/Pages/TheDailyShoe... and even though I still go through a pair a year, they are lightweight (for summer) and very comfortable. In the summer, I will wear crocs-but only if I can keep my feet dry (not watering etc). I used tennis shoes one summer and hated it because they got wet and didn't dry out and I don't like the feeling of working in wet shoes. The Muck shoes are waterproof. I don't think there is a day in the year that I don't wear them at some point of the day

ken, they aren't real cheap but i buy ecco hiking mid high boots, they are lightweight, waterproof, and very comfortable, even new ones don't need a break in period :)

I try to water and fertilize my shoes on a daily basis to keep them evenly moist, the auroma is an added plus. They would root faster except I am always moving so the roots never have time to grab hold of anything except at night when the shoes are nestled by the back door. Trying to pull them off the carpet every morning can be a chore! :)

After going through a pair or two of waterproof hiker boots every season, I finally got a pair of Red Wing waterproof work shoes (ankle boots). About $150 and worth every penny! Absolutely waterproof, no odor, and comfortable all day long. Long lasting soles too which was another problem I had from walking on grass, and rocks at the farm. I would never buy anything else now.

crocs... year round here. I use my boots too.. Mink oil every two weeks keeps 'em dry. Barefootin' in summer.

Thank you all for replying.My wife bought me keen shoes.I really like them, there light weight rugged and water resistant.My first pair lasted 8 months which is very good for me.Now I am on my second pair and these are steeled toed and very comfortable.
